What we offer

 

  • Reading Recovery program with 2 teachers.
  • Internet access from our Library/Media Center, Computer Lab and

        each classroom.

  • Computers and printers in all 30 self-contained classrooms and all

        special area classrooms.

  • Leveled instruction in Reading (grades1-5) and Math (grades 4-5)
  • Active Parent Teacher Organization.
  • Accelerated Reader Program & STAR Testing Program available in

        classrooms and Computer Lab.

  • Fully networked Computer Lab with 24 computers.
  • Success Maker Computer Lab with 15 stations for Reading and Math 
  • Resource teachers for Grades 1-5
  • Reading Recovery Training Site
  • Media Center utilizes flexible scheduling
  • Annual Achievement testing program (SAT-10 and ARMT) Grades 3

        thru 5

  • Students in grades 1 through 5 are assessed using DIBELS (Dynamic

        Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills).

  • All teachers trained in a Conflict Resolution Program and Bullying

        Intervention Program.

  • Selected as an Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) Demonstration Site in

        1999 (The second year of the application process). Teachers continue

        professional development in the area of reading.

  • School-wide writing program that is continuous throughout grades 1-5.
  • At risk students are identified and served with special needs teachers,

        counselor, and appropriate classroom instruction.  

  • Full gym and playground
