The Technology Office is charged with the management of the technology resources of the Ozark City Schools. This management responsibility includes the establishment and administration of acceptable use policy and implementation guides for the use of these resources by staff, students, and other users.

Ozark City Schools is a small rural school district of approximately 3,000 students. Instructional services are provided in five schools, and an area career center. The school system's student population is diverse due in large measure to the influence of Ft. Rucker, an adjacent Army installation.

The infusion and implementation of the technology in the schools is viewed as a tool to enhance the educational process and not as an end unto itself. Therefore, the system technology plan is sensitive to the instructional needs inherit in the total school program, including career/technical and special education.

Distant Learning

Ozark City Schools has recently installed (4) distant learning labs for selective course work and professional development.

Fiber optic backbone

Ozark City Schools has updated its network infrastructure to a fiber optic backbone to connect each school to a WAN (Wide Area Network).

Wireless Lab

Ozark City Schools has purchased  laptop wireless labs with fund made available by Federal and State grants. The labs main purpose is for Professional development of personel,online courses and for student use for researching of the web and online courses.

Internet Access and E-mail to All Classrooms

Internet access and e-mail is set up in all classrooms throughout the school system.  Internet access is being filtered through a firewall called Lightspeed. With the filtering device in place, objectionable sites are blocked from access making the World Wide Web a safer enviroment for students.
